Easter Parrtayyyyy

Today we had a little Easter party playdate at our friend Dani's house. Riley was less interested in the eggs and more interested in the chocolate dipped Rice Krispie treats someone brought (they kind of put my regular, boring old Rice Krispie treats, that I brought, to shame). She had such a blast playing with her best pal (or boyfriend, however you wanna call it) Landen and his sister Jaycie girl. We also got a chance to see Meredith and her two kiddos Caden and Cameron. Always such good fun when we can get the kids together to play while us mommies gossi.... I mean talk. There were some other questionable guests who made an appearance, but shall remain nameless, cause frankly, I don't remember their names.
Gavy boy was SOOOOO good and well behaved. He even put himself to sleep. A milestone!! I didn't have to rock, bounce, pat, jiggle, walk or drive him to sleep! Well done son. You get the kid of the week award.
Tomorrow -- kids go see the Easter Bunny...... dun-duh-dun-duh.....

Crafty Mama

Well, not much to post today --- so I guess I will put up some pics of cards I have made lately... I think I am getting better. I hope. I have a hard time with original ideas, so most of the cards I make I "scraplift" (like shop lift, but that's scrapper speak, I guess)..... usually though, I just take the general concept and then make it "mine"... so I am not entirely a phony, just a little. (captions are UNDER the cards) .... Enjoy.

Saturday Night Live

Since I am such a party animal (detect the sarcasm??) I went out on Saturday night with my friends Dani and Brandie. We went to see Anjelah Johnson at Pipleline. Believe me when I tell you I need more comedy in my life. It feels so good to laugh for an hour straight... and I wouldn't be lying if I said I wish someone would pay ME to be funny.... but I think I'd get stage fright.
Anyways, after an hour of laughter -- we headed to Macaroni Grill to have a late dinner and watch our points disappear before our very eyes. You know you are on a diet when you spend the entire meal talking about how many points are in everything from the table cloth the the whopping piece of chocolate cake we ordered for dessert... and of course how eating "non diet food" was going to have us spending the next three days in the bathroom. Awesome. We should do this more often. LOL.
I love my girls....

Park It.

Jake had to work yesterday, and since we didn't want to spend the ENTIRE day cooped up in the house, we met daddy at the park near work and had a picnic and played on the little playground. Riley is FEARLESS. She climbs up the stairs of the playground like it's her job. Out of the two slides there were to choose from, she chose the biggest and baddest. And to top it off, the slide was scalding hot, and it burned my butt... she didn't seem to notice when she went down. All I got from her was "haaa-aa-t" -- but I am not sure she really even knows what hot means.
Gavin enjoyed his time outside in the fresh air. Mommy and daddy took turns playing with Riley on the playground. Such good fun! Next time, we are gonna check out the "spray park".

After daddy got home from work, mommy went out for some girlie fun with her friends.... more on that later.
I am too tired tonight to write anymore.... but a final thought for the evening that appeared in my daily inspirational email:
"
I seek to understand and live my individual purpose."
I concur.

ABC, easy as 123

I wanted to make a list of words that Riley is saying confidently at 18 months old. It is pretty hilarious that for so long all she did was point and whine and now words are just shooting out of her. I'd say she says about one new word a day now. It just amazes me -- and I am not sure why -- I mean that's what kids do, right?
Here's the list:
Momma~ Bath~Baby~ Daddy (or Daaaa-dee)~ Eyes~ See~ Nana~ Saaaaat? (for what's that)~ Ba-pa (for Grandpa)~ Sappy (for Cassie, our dog)~ Jody~ Hot~ Tutu~ Bye~ Milk (or Muk)~ Gun Go (for Gonna go)~ Juice~ Baaaa-ssssss (for Bus)~ Please~ Truck~ Birdie~ Ni-Night~ Cookie~ Paci (for Pacifier)~ Book~ Banket (for Blanket).
Other notables:
When she is being scolded, she will cover her eyes -- YES Riley, I can still see you. Also when I threaten to "spank" her (No people, I don't spank her hard, she 18 months, there's plenty of time for that!!) she will stick her butt out and spank it herself... yep, this girl is definitely MINE.

On the road again....

FINALLY got a double jogging stroller! Good thing too -- the wheels were about to fall off of the other stroller. SO not meant for daily power walks on the walking path.

How To Train Your Dragon...

More like how to train your kids to sit still and be quiet during a movie. Oh my. Was pretty sure Gavin was going to be his normal, fussy self through the whole movie, but he was ok... as long as I kept bouncing him on my knee and kept him facing the screen. The kid is obsessed with the silver screen - already! Ok, that's cool -- maybe he'll be an actor.... just remember me kid, your mom, I brought you into this world, I can .... (ok, we aren't there yet...). Riley was surprisingly fidgety and squirmy. But it was nap time for her - so I blame it on being tired. They eventually both fell asleep, so my mom, brother and I enjoyed the movie in peace.

3/26/2010

So, I've decided to write a blog. Everybody's doing it. This will contain my thoughts, my life stories, stories about my kids, my attempts at being crafty, all the stuff that blogs are usually about. My goal is to be funny and witty -- which with an 18 month old and a 3 month old, they aren't much of an audience, and my humor is usually lost on them.
So -- this is short. More to come later....
I have lots to tell. I know, I know, falling off your chair with excitement....

Oh -- and as this progresses, I want to figure out how to make a blog pretty and cool looking. Really -- this is just another creative outlet for me... something else to do. Maybe eventually less and less gray matter will leak out of my head... and maybe this will lead me to figuring out if I am supposed to be doing more in my life than just maintaining a house and raising kids.... Oh, the suspense is killing me!
